Having the vision to become an entrepreneur is great. Making it happen is another story!

In that frame, I had the pleasure to interview Smruti Palwe, founder of Magenta Hive. Smruti stepped into the field of Digital Marketing 8 years ago and today she is the leading entrepreneur, community builder, and a leading internet marketing expert. Her hard work and sheer dedication had made her ranked No.1 among Digital Women Power Influencer for SME.

In 2016, Smruti started Magenta Hive Technologies, Digital Marketing Company, with a mission to help big and small size businesses make their strong online identity.

1. What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e what’s your source of motivation?
My entire source of motivation comes from this question “How can we (Including Magenta Hive Team) transform the way people look at Digital Marketing?”

As per my observation, Too many people obsess about Boost, Paid marketing, Impressions, Followers, Likes and other metrics that don’t really matter. They can be guiding lights showing progress, but that’s not Digital Marketing.

Digital Marketing is all about Optimisation, Personalisation, and Automation. It is all about how well you optimize with the use of automated tools, at the same time engaging with the customer and taking their experiences as the measurement of your Progress. In these ways, Digital Marketing generates ROI and there are many examples with us.

2. Why should people choose your product/services?
Because we’re perpetually transforming to meet Market Needs. Innovation and how consumers make purchase decisions evolve by the minute. What worked yesterday may not work tomorrow in driving market share. We invest in tomorrow, we’re ahead of what’s next in creativity, and we have the scale to give our clients an advantage in their market.

3. What’s your competitive advantage and why can’t it be copied?
In working with dozens of change-making organizations, we understand how to leverage the right marketing mix to amplify their mission-driven work, while addressing the challenges and opportunities that come along with being a social enterprise. We’re learning every day and becoming experts in the industry of Digital Marketing. There can be no copied version and replacement for that expertise.

4. What risks are you facing?
I would better call it a “Challenge” that over half of small business owners are not marketing their companies on social media at all!

Industry experts all say that we are now in an age where customers are expecting businesses to interact with them online. For small businesses not to be participating in social media on a major scale is quite concerning.

5. Have you considered any alliance/partnership?
We are open to partnership, as this era is the collaboration era, you can’t do everything all alone.

6. What comes first for you money or emotions?
Emotions are extremely important to me. Whether you’re in a B2B or B2C marketplace, at the end of the day, you’re living in an H2H world i.e., human to human. And that’s where the importance of emotions comes in.

7. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
My focus, dedication and my team are my strength.

8. Tell me about an accomplishment you are most proud of.
We have had 1000 orders for one of our Brands in FMCG through eCommerce on their launch day, which we are very much proud of.

9. How do you handle the pressure?
I sit back and take a brief mental break. Brief mental breaks actually help me to stay focused.

10. If you sold your company today, what would be the tone of the conversation? What would you want to gain? What would you want to avoid losing?
I have not given thought of selling my company as of now, at least till I make a team of 200+ In our Hive with the same intention (Magenta Hive).

11. What advice would you give to someone starting out?
I would advise having a strong digital presence. Even if you’re running a local business, you need a comprehensive digital presence. At a minimum, you need a professional-looking website, an email list and social media channels that your customers frequent.
