“Tough times don’t last, Strong people do”, is the conviction of the founder of Lime Lizard, that he credence’s to ever since the beginning of his journey.
A one-on-one interview with Maayank Jaiin, founder of Lime Lizard, an entrepreneur and a producer is a firm believer of serendipity, which asserted his notion that everyone has their own journeys to their destination. Although the experiences, learnings, and duration may vary individually.
In that frame, I learned more about his aspirations and journey of Lime Lizard Events & Media.
1. What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e what’s your source of motivation?
Well, the confidence to do something out-of-the-box and ensure each day of my life is spent on the things I love doing. My inclination to escape the monotony of life and create something unique and the urge to improve and create the best is my source of motivation.
2. Why should people choose your product/services?
Well, we have been awarded for various government projects that we have executed and are highly recognized as one of the Best Event Management Companies in India. Divergent concepts and new innovative ideas have led Lime Lizard events & Media to achieve exponential growth with an experience of more than a decade with competitive budgets.
Quality, authenticity, commitment, and state-of-the-art solutions in tandem with new-age technologies have made us one of the most trusted top-notch event management company in India.
3. What’s your competitive advantage and why can’t it be copied?
Our extensive experience and unique working style. At Lime Lizard, every project is unique, we unfurl our creative streaks and give the best to every event executed by our team. Irrespective of a corporate meeting, brand launch, or a political event, we ensure hassle-free experience and a simplified event planning process.
Our competitive edge would be the personal touch we add to the complete analysis of client requirements. A team of hard-working managers provide a detailed strategy and innovative concepts for the project and work towards it with a crystal-clear idea of the event intricacies.
4. What risks are you facing?
I read a quote by Millard Drexler “You can’t run a business without taking risks”, and I have always believed that the risks are never-ending and every new day comes with a new challenge or a new risk. It is all about escaping your comfort zones and managing the reputation you have created and the financial regulations. I have families dependant on me, my failure will affect the families of my employees too.
Although, one of the risks or challenges, as I would term in the current situation, is the shut-down of the event industry due to the pandemic. Apart from the current scenario, the event industry has seen the entry of a new league of event managers, who have slashed down the market rates and do not focus on the intricacies and quality of the services. Another risk involved in the field is the payment credits expected by the clients and their untimely payments for the events.
But, I have always believed that in order to outgrow our fears and comfort zones, we must take every risk as a challenge and find our ways out of it.
5. Have you considered any alliance/partnership?
Well, the answer would be NO. I would never want any alliance or partnership for Lime Lizard. Although, I might consider it for my other ventures in the future.
6. What are your cash flow projections? When will you break even? How much will you need in investments?
Well, I would call myself fortunate that we did break even in our initial years at Lime Lizard.
As I mentioned above, I might consider alliance for my other ventures, I would just state here that I have extended my foot into the world of content creation, and I might welcome investors in that domain of my scope of work. We have various innovative ideas and concepts, which can be discussed in detail.
7. What comes first for you money or emotions?
I would say emotions. I always believe that money can be made sooner or later, but emotional support and morale play a pivotal role in your success.
8. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Discipline, determination, and hard work are the pre-requisites for anything you intend to do in life. Add a dash of creative, efficacious, positive, empathy, and perfection to it. I count these as my strengths.
I would call getting emotional sometimes as my weakness since it often backfires.
9. Tell me about an accomplishment you are most proud of?
Well, I am proud of Lime Lizard Events & Media. It is my greatest accomplishment and I am being interviewed by you because of Lime Lizard. ☺
I have generated good revenue through the hard work in building this company. It took a lot of learning and pitfalls to reach where I am today. I am proud of being way ahead of most people at my age and managing a luxurious life with a self-owned office for Lime Lizard in the heart of south Delhi.
10. How do you handle the pressure?
Event management is all about pressure, the last-minute detailing, coordinating with vendors, timely setting up the production, or the sudden customer demands. If we lose our minds during this, the event will never be successful. I have learned to keep a calm mind and reconditioned my disaster management skills with the expertise of handling people from varied verticals.
11. If you sold your company today, what would be the tone of the conversation? What would you want to gain? What would you want to avoid losing?
I have no intention and will never sell my company. This is my hard-earned achievement, we don’t sell our medals. This is the prize I have gifted myself for those sleepless nights and aggressive working hours to build this dream a reality.
However, if I were to sell it (which will never happen), a light fun-filled healthy conversation for mutual benefits would hold the conversation tone. I would sell it to someone who would understand my vision, and nurture my company as their baby and keep the company going in the same direction it envisions. Of course, I would not like to lose my dignity, self-respect, and money during the entire scenario.
12. What advice would you give to someone starting out?
“There will be times of uncertainty, lows, and high’s – embrace them for the metamorphosis they proffer and march your way to your aim. Stay Positive and eventually, everything will fall in place”.
A first-generation entrepreneur, Maayank shows a remarkable contribution to the event industry. A pioneering spirit behind the brand Lime Lizard, he ensures to deliver perfection and aristocracy in the genus of Corporate & Political Events, Luxury Destination Weddings, Fashion Shows, Advertising, Celebrity Management, and now a new step as a Producer too.
Unparalleled sense of creativity and out-of-the-box concepts, Maayank derives his passion through unimaginable and inventive skills with the utmost commitment to his work.
