Edtech startup RoboManiax got presence in 8+ cities within 2 years
It’s rare that funded startups attain profitability during their early years of inception as they are notorious for burning capital without caring about profitability. Nevertheless, some startups are the exception who manages to become profitable in quick time. One such startup is education tech platform RoboManiax.
The Kolkata-based company has claimed to have a presence of in 8+ cities with their Robotics & STEM Learning Centers (RESK) viz. Kolkata, Pune, Bangalore, Kerala, Patna since its inception in July 2017. Interestingly, it also claims profitability from the beginning. “We are profitable overall and on the unit-economics basis as well,” says Mayank Rajput, Founder, and CEO of RoboManiax.
RoboManiax is a brainchild of not an IIT, NIT or IIM alumni but a Private Engineering College graduate — Mayank & his few batch mates. It claims to be the only Robotics & STEM platform that provides live practical classes from renowned trainer’s in their Center Model for futuristic learning & hands-on experience to the young minds.
“Parents always relocate their children’s to different ‘educational epitomes’ just to prepare for practical learning or hands-on experience; exams, competitions, higher studies & job competent. We realized that the core problem was never lack of quality trainer’s or teachers. Rather, the lack of access to practical education and hands-on learning due to the forged theoretical education format in our country.
Presently, 99 per cent successful students take practical training or choose some sort of extra-curricular activity. Choosing quality or upstream activity is the biggest decision for kids and even their parents.
As many as 30-40 percents of kids can’t afford to relocate for these kinds of training and join sub-par local teachers. Affordability and the lack of practical education in most of the cities have triggered the quintet to float a comprehensive, one-stop Robotics & STEM Education platform.
How is RoboManiax different from other Robotics & STEM companies?
Traditionally ed-tech companies fall on two ends of the spectrum. One set proclaims that their products are best. The other extreme is an open marketplace with a fundamental that anyone can learn in form of workshops and short-term training and students should be free to choose from that wide range.
The poster child of Robotics & STEM product space LEGO falls in the first category while the other Robotics Education organizations lead the marketplace model.
“We realized most successful students have a practical experience & hands-on learning with a proper timeline. So, we created RoboManiax as both product & marketplace at the same time; managed and curated Robotics & STEM platform. All the trainers on the platform are selected through very stringent criteria including past results and experience,” adds Mayank.
Why RoboManiax focuses on Robotics & STEM Education?
The team at RoboManiax focuses on Robotics & STEM Education to reform the contemporary theoretical education system into a practical one with means of curated content & STEM Modules for the young minds. We also beckon hands-on experience and fun learning.
Amassing 10k young minds in two years
Well qualified & experienced trainers are imparting practical learning prodigy across the various premises of RoboManiax (Robotics & STEM Learning Centers); with the help of their Robotics & STEM Modules and curated Study Materials. As following the K-12 practical education system, they claim to have 300+ Robotics & STEM modules with 12-15 modules for a child of every standard in a replica of the theoretical study guidelines at their school.
So far, the company has been able to rake in close to 10,000 students who have joined paid courses. Traditionally RoboManiax’s dominance has been in the modules of Robotics.
Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore & Kerala contribute maximum subscription for the company. Interestingly, that’s the main reason for expanding in these cities erstwhile with happy franchise partners in 2017 end,
Guwahati, Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat, Hyderabad, Vizag, Bihar & Jharkhand & Tier-2 /Tier-3 cities of India to be absorbed by 2018 with prospective clients in the pipeline; added Mayank.
Size of opportunity and so far funding
Currently, the market size of Robotics & STEM K-12 Education is about $52 billion. Close to 60-70% kids enrol for Robotics & other STEM activities every year in many regions of the country. RoboManiax eyes to capture 20 per cent of the Robotics & STEM Learning market share by 2020 with increasing their presence via Robotics & STEM learning Centers in other cities in the pipeline.
They haven’t raised any funding till date though started with a self-capital of around 1lacs. They are open for future investment opportunities for further expansion.
