Interview with Shreya Sharma | Rest The Case
I hope this can inspire you to become a successful entrepreneur too! Why is it important to hear the story of a successful entrepreneur?
Having the vision to become an entrepreneur is great. Making it happen is another story!
In that frame, We had the pleasure of interviewing Shreya Sharma, Rest The Case’s founder. Rest The Case is a legal aggregator platform that offers infinite opportunities for lawyers and clients and
makes the law accessible to everyone. It is an online platform that gives a smart and convenient edge to create and build connections between lawyers and clients with just one simple click.
1. How you started Rest The Case. What was your source of motivation?
While studying abroad I saw how easy it was to access legal information and seek advice. After seeing that ease of access abroad, I was looking to introduce the same in India. My vision for ‘Rest The Case’ is to make it a One Stop Solution for all things legal in India. A platform that is accessible to all no matter how big or small their problem might be, we wish to be your go-to solution when it comes to all legal matters in India, and building a trusted community for you when sharing confidential information.
2. What is the problem that your startup is trying to solve? What are the pain points that your target customers are facing, and how does your product or service address those pain points?
It has been a constant struggle for people to find legal help. It is often difficult to make sure you have the right and trustworthy lawyer, to find the right information related to law in a simple and
comprehensive format, to go through a ton of contacts before you can finally find someone who can
manage your legal case. Right from finding the kind of lawyer you need, to documentation and
all other steps involved in a legal process, a one-stop solution to legal matters has always been a
necessity but has not been easily accessible or available.
Rest The Case solves the problem of people finding the right lawyers for their legal issues. Often good
and reliable lawyers are hard to find. Our platform tries to bridge the gap between lawyers & clients that eliminate this hassle.
3. What is your competitive advantage? What makes your startup unique, and why should customers choose your product or service over the competition?
We offer only 1 client to 1 lawyer. This exclusivity helps us provide high-quality lawyers to clients who can resolve their issues effectively.
4. What is your business model? How do you plan to make money? When will you break even?
We have achieved break-even. In our business model, we have various subscription plans for lawyers.
When they subscribe, lawyers get high-quality and verified leads. The subscription plans are only for our work and we ensure that lawyers don’t have to pay anything extra.
5. What are the biggest challenges you face as a startup? What are the obstacles that you need to overcome to be successful?
As a startup, we faced one of the biggest challenges – Trust. There have been instances when people
don’t trust it as it is a startup. Building that trust through a step-by-step process was also big and necessary. I believe that such challenges are stepping stones to success.
6. What are your goals for the future? Where do you see your startup in five years?
I want to make Rest The Case a household name. Whenever anyone comes across any type of legal
issue, Rest The Case comes to their mind. We want to become one of the top legal aggregators that
provides all types of legal solutions to lawyers and clients worldwide. We are working towards building a brand that can help people legally nationally and internationally. With new technologies, we ensure that our services are secure and transparent without any filters.
7. How do you plan to build and maintain a strong team?
I strive to find people who are passionate about their work and put that same passion into the business. We find people purely based on merit and their skills. I try to give them the space to grow where they can give their best.
8. What are your thoughts on the future of the legal industry?
One of the most prominent trends we see is the integration of technology into legal processes. AI-
powered tools are enhancing legal research, contract analysis, and due diligence, enabling lawyers to
streamline their work and focus on higher-value tasks. These tools can quickly analyze vast amounts of
data, identify patterns, and provide valuable insights that can assist in case preparation and decision-making. Nowadays lawyers seek to get a wide client base. As businesses expand internationally, cross-border legal issues become more complex. This creates a demand for lawyers with expertise in
international law, trade, and intellectual property. Additionally, collaboration among legal professionals across jurisdictions will become crucial to effectively address these global legal challenges.
9. What advice would you give to someone who is just starting up?
I have said this before, but I think as many times as you point this out it is not enough. The most
important thing for anyone is to believe in themselves. I always say that you must believe in yourself
every day, it is a process and you need to do it every single day. No one will if you don’t believe in yourself and your idea.
