Unified Mentor: Affordable Online Tech Courses & Internships
We hope this can inspire you to become a successful entrepreneur too! Why is it important to hear the story of a successful entrepreneur?
Having the vision to become an entrepreneur is great. Making it happen is another story!
In that frame, We had the pleasure to interview Paras Grover, directors & co-founder of Unified Mentor. Unified Mentor, an edtech company, empowers working professionals to bridge the skills gap in the tech industry. They offer high-quality, affordable training courses and internship programs in in-demand fields like data science and digital marketing, ensuring learners gain practical experience and are well-equipped to advance their careers.
1. What inspired you to start Unified Mentor?
The inspiration for Unified Mentor stemmed from a personal experience. As a student, I, like many others in India (79%!), had to relocate to a different city for education. A significant portion of the financial burden fell on living expenses and college fees, leaving limited resources for additional skill-based training. Witnessing this firsthand, particularly during my own experience learning animation in Delhi, I realized the need for accessible and affordable skill development programs. Many companies charge exorbitant fees, making such training out of reach for most students. Unified Mentor was born out of this realization. We are committed to offering high-quality, skill-based programs at a reasonable cost, empowering students to overcome financial constraints and compete in the job market, regardless of the lakhs spent by others on similar education.
2. What is your background and experience in education technology?
My roots are in Hansi, Hisar, Haryana. After completing my English Honours from Delhi University, I pursued animation technology, which sparked my interest in the creative and technical aspects of education. My work experience includes working as a 2D/3D designer at Suntech, followed by a position as a graphic designer at Hamleys. I later transitioned into sales at Hamleys after being promoted. Subsequently, I worked at Byju’s for three years as a Senior Sales Manager, then joined SXILL as Head of Sales and Marketing. I also co-founded an EdTech startup before starting my own venture, Unified Mentor. My diverse experience in design, sales, and EdTech has equipped me with the skills to create impactful educational solutions.

Starting a startup in the EdTech space in 2024 involves several risks. High competition is a significant challenge, with many established players and new entrants vying for market share. Rapidly changing technology requires continuous adaptation and innovation to stay relevant. Maintaining engagement in online learning is also crucial, as keeping learners motivated can be difficult. Additionally, bootstrapping the startup adds financial pressure, limiting resources for marketing, development, and scaling. However, with a strong value proposition, strategic planning, and a focus on delivering quality, affordable education, these risks can be mitigated. Continuous innovation, building strong partnerships, and leveraging feedback to improve our offerings will be key to overcoming these challenges.
10. What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs in the EdTech space?
Focus on solving real problems and creating value for your learners. Listen closely to your learners and actively seek their feedback; use this feedback to continually improve and adapt your product. Building strong partnerships with educational institutions, industry experts, and technology providers is crucial. Stay updated with the latest trends in education technology, such as AI, VR, and personalized learning, to ensure your offerings remain relevant. Additionally, maintain a balance between innovation and practicality, and always prioritize the quality and accessibility of your educational content. Be prepared for challenges and stay resilient in the face of competition and changing market dynamics. 12. How do you and your co-founder balance your leadership styles, especially in challenging situations?
I tend to be more aggressive and proactive in driving our initiatives forward, which can be crucial for momentum. However, in high-pressure situations, this is where my co-founder, who is calm and composed, steps in to handle the situation. His steady demeanor balances my assertiveness, ensuring that we approach challenges with a mix of determination and level-headedness. This complementary dynamic between us allows for effective and balanced decision-making, benefiting the overall success of Unified Mentor.
