Interview with Joy Pansari | Admybin

I hope this can inspire you to become a successful entrepreneur too! Why is it important to hear the story of a successful entrepreneur?

Having the vision to become an entrepreneur is great. Making it happen is another story!

In that frame, I had the pleasure to interview Joy Pansari, Founder of Admybin.

1. Please introduce yourself to us?
I am Joy Pansari, a social entrepreneur.  I am working to make a difference on the street by installing Adbins(Litter bins).  I graduated from Dayanand Sagar College, Bangalore. I did my Automobile engineering.

2. What is Admybin all about and how did you come up with the idea of Admybin?
So Admybin started in 2014, with the launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.  Many people with a broom on weekends, clearing a heap once in a month wasn’t the actual solution. Why not have proper litter bins to cater to.  The society needs a bin on the streets as nobody wishes to carry mobile waste with them and they have to dump on the streets if there is no proper infrastructure.

3. What is your source of motivation?
Society.

4. Why should people choose your services?
So it is a self-sustainable model.  In Admybin we install Adbins at no cost to municipal bodies and even take its maintenance on a daily basis.  So this creates a win-win situation for all, as a huge cost saving to the municipal bodies and society gets to use a clean and hygienic litter bin to use in adequate numbers.

5. What’s your competitive advantage and why can’t it be copied?
Our USP is the maintenance of litter bins. We are working on smarter operations, rather smart bins

6. What risks are you facing?
Government approvals are the bottleneck of the project.

7. Have you considered any alliance/partnership?
No, not yet. We have created our own

8. What is your cash flow projection? When will you break even? How much investment you will need?
We have been doing well with numbers.  We are positive with cash flow.  We target to cover 5000 Adbins by March 2020.

9. How was your experience while speaking at Tedx?
So, I still can’t believe that I spoke on Tedx. It was amazing. This is one of the days, I would be cherishing a lifetime.

10. What comes first to you, money or emotions?
To complete the emotions, you also need strong financial backing.

11. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
First mover advantage. Ankit and I are completely from two different backgrounds.  He is CA and makes it easy for an engineer to handle finance.

12. Tell me about an accomplishment you are most proud of?
Shri Narendra Modi sir spoke about our project in one of his speeches.

13. How was your journey from being engineering to entrepreneurs? Starting from inventing tricycle to conceptualizing Admybin?
Haha. Both required entrepreneur skills. Right from starch, building a product which nobody has done.  Been called a fool, as initially, everybody thought in both the projects ever not helpful.

Admybin journey has started. I am sure Kuch to badlav launga.

14. What advice would you give someone starting out?
Look for the problem and then create a product to solve it. Rather vice-versa.
