Interview with Kartikay Tiwari | Thinking-Toe

I hope this can inspire you to become a successful entrepreneur too! Why is it important to hear the story of a successful entrepreneur?

Having the vision to become an entrepreneur is great. Making it happen is another story!

In that frame, I had the pleasure to interview Kartikay Tiwari, founder of Theshopbasket & Thinking-Toe. Thinking-Toe is an ecommerce website which has generated revenue of over 1 Crore Ruppes within a year of its lauch. Thinking-Toe has presently empowered 17+ Small Business owners.

1. What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e what’s your source of motivation?
From initial days of my startup, my true source of motivation is been to hustle and work hard to give my best result to our partnered small business.

2. Why should people choose your product/services?
Uniqueness and Quality. We focus alot on uniqueness and quality of the product. I also try to connect with small entrepreneurs and help them in selling their products through our platform.

3. What’s your competitive advantage and why can’t it be copied?
I really don’t focus much on competitors. I always focus on quality of the product and in adding new products to our website.

4. What risks are you facing?
During my initial days and even sometimes now the biggest problem I am facing is lockdown. Whenever lockdown happens, it affects our logistics Courier shipments gets delayed and even sometimes couriers are stuck midway.

5. Have you considered any alliance/partnership?
No not yet but will love to to do some partnership in near future.

6. What are your cash flow projections? When will you break even? How much will you need in investments?
Presently I’m working on B2C model but I’m planning to take this to B2B model too where manufacturer can directly sell their products to retailers.

7. What comes first for you money or emotions?
For me definitely emotions as according to me you really can’t make money without any emotions. My source of motivation for starting this startup even came from the emotion of helping small business.

8. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Emotion is my strength and weakness as well.

9. Tell me about an accomplishment you are most proud of.
One day one of my manufacturer said me “Kartikay bhaiya thanks a lot you really helped me a lot in this lockdown in protecting my business from permanent shutdown”. I feel like that is been an accomplishment that I will be most proud of it.

10. How do you handle the pressure?
Pressure is something that can disturb you but only if you take too much load work. I always try to maintain an equilibrium between work and life.

11. If you sold your company today, what would be the tone of the conversation? What would you want to gain? What would you want to avoid losing?
Well at this point I really don’t know what my next step will be as I’m in no mood to sell this company. I’m happy with the kind of work I’m am doing in my Startup.

12. What advice would you give to someone starting out?
My only advise to someone who is starting out is to focus on what you are doing and not on other’s opinions as it’s only you who can make things better and successful.
