Interview with Sachin Kumar | Sattuz

About Sattuz
We started “Sattuz” with a vision to make global brands from rural Indian villages. Our land has rich diversity in almost everything. We began by researching why people who love Indian food and drinks are not preferring it as compared to carbonated and caffeine based drinks.

Sattuz solves the problems of making and carrying as it can be prepared instantly and is very easy to carry. It requires no refrigeration. The different flavours of sattuz like a sweet flavour, jal jeera flavour and chocolate flavour make it more exciting. It is very good for the digestive system and it contains nutrients equal to as good as a meal. In fact, sattuz is the superfood for all age groups. Sattuz “travel-pack” (which contains cups and spoon along with sachet) is made just for your trips when you can’t find everything neat and clean and don’t want to consume anything which is bad for health. Our future plans are to launch SattuzCafe too. We are determined to make this Indian tasty healthy instant energy drink a global brand.

1. What gets you out of bed in the morning i.e what’s your source of motivation?
My urge to make an impact both at the social level and economic level is what keeps me motivated.

2. Why should people choose your product/services?
Health is the real wealth. People who love their health would always choose “Sattuz”.

3. What’s your competitive advantage and why can’t it be copied?
Change is the only permanent thing so I think only innovation and hard work of a team can’t be copied.

4. What risks are you facing?
The risk of big giants with deep pockets can be a risk anytime.

5. Have you considered any alliance/partnership?
We already are in tie-up with luxury bus services and IRCTC. We are also looking forward to partner with food-joints and hotel chains.

6. What are your cash flow projections? When will you break even? How much will you need in investments?
We should cross 1 million in sales next month. We are likely to break even in next FY. We are in talks with VCs and other fund houses for investments.

7. What comes first for you money or emotions?
It is always “why we do …before… what we do.”

8. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Again I would say team-work and innovation are our strengths and being a start-up with a small pocket is a weakness as of now.

9. Tell me about an accomplishment you are most proud of.
The smiles on the consumer’s face and feedbacks received from them are our accomplishments.

10. How do you handle the pressure?
Good books, good food and good music.

11. What advice would you give to someone starting out?
Do it for yourself and your team. You need no one’s approval. Just do it.

12. What’s the one question you were expecting most and I haven’t asked you? and please share the answer to that question as well.
As I always say, “I LIVE EACH MOMENT, WORK FOR QUARTERS AND BUILD FOR GENERATIONS”.
